IN-SPACe Model Rocketry & CAN-7USAT 2026

Organized by the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) under the Department of Space, this premier competition challenges students to conceptualize, fabricate, and launch model satellites and rockets.

Our dual-track mission focuses on pushing boundaries in two advanced aerospace frontiers:

CAN-7USAT Integration

Designing a high-fidelity Can-sized (7U) satellite limited to 1 kg, loaded with advanced atmospheric data recorders, designed to survive a 1,000m rocket launch and deploy safely.

Precision Ejection & Recovery

Achieving autonomous landing precision and real-time telemetry streaming through customized mechanical deployment and state-of-the-art radio communication link.

The CanSat Architecture

A state-of-the-art multi-disciplinary satellite sub-system integrating electronics, COMMs, structure, and fluid dynamics.

COMMs & Telemetry

Operating on a specialized 433 MHz RF transceiver network, streaming sensor coordinates and structural health packets in real time directly to our customized ground station dashboard.

  • 1 Hz Packet Rate
  • Custom Helix Antenna
  • Ground Station Software Integration

Electronics & Payload

Powered by a dual-controller architecture on a custom-designed double-sided PCB. Tracks temperature, pressure, relative altitude, acceleration, and GPS coordinates.

  • BMP280 Altitude Sensor
  • MPU6050 Accelerometer/Gyro
  • Dynamic SD-Card Data Mirroring

Structure & Aerodynamics

Built with robust and lightweight 3D-printed composite components. Features impact-absorbent structure cells to shield internal electronics during hard landing deceleration.

  • Carbon-Fiber Reinforced Filament
  • 7U Standardized Form Factor
  • Under 1.0kg Weight Compliance

Controlled Recovery

Utilizes an autonomous dual-parachute recovery system. Deploys a main parachute at optimal ejection altitude, followed by an active landing control mechanism.

  • Servo-Driven Release Mechanism
  • Cross-Parachute Stabilizer
  • Safe descent speed (< 5 m/s)

Our Accomplishments

A testament to our technical rigorousness, teamwork, and commitment to pioneering space technology in India.
